What is Alopecia Areata?
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the hair follicles, causing patchy hair loss on the scalp, face, or body at any age. Genetics is the primary factor, but in susceptible individuals, triggers like significant stress, infections, hormonal shifts, and vitamin D deficiency can set off or worsen flares.
