With a passion for skin health and a mission to provide top-tier care to the vibrant community of Honolulu and Oahu, Dr. Tagai has become a trusted name in dermatological excellence. Dr. Tagai’s journey into the world of dermatology began at the prestigious Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he cultivated the foundations of his medical expertise. During his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Tagai’s dedication to dermatology and his outstanding leadership qualities were evident to all.
In recognition of his exceptional abilities, he was honored to serve as an Academic Chief Resident during his final year of training, a role that further solidified his commitment to excellence.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Dr. Tagai combines his military discipline with a genuine passion for dermatology. His unwavering dedication to providing individualized, state-of-the-art dermatologic care to patients and their families is a testament to his patient-centric approach. Fueled by his passion for the discipline, he takes pleasure in tending to patients across all age groups, encompassing both medical and cosmetic aspects of dermatology. In his cherished free time, he explores the picturesque island of Oahu alongside his beloved wife and three children, epitomizing his deep connection to both family and the captivating island community he serves.

Justin K. Maio, MS, PA-C
Justin K. Maio, MS, PA-C, brings a distinguished combination of clinical excellence, academic achievement, and heartfelt dedication to patient care in the field of dermatology. A proud graduate of Oregon State University, Justin earned both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees with summa cum laude honors.
In 2011, Justin was honored as a Native Hawaiian Health Scholar, a competitive program that supports emerging healthcare leaders dedicated to serving Native Hawaiian communities. He went on to complete his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the prestigious Pacific University in 2013, where he underwent extensive clinical training in dermatology, emergency medicine, general and orthopedic surgery, and internal medicine. It was during these formative years that his interest in dermatology blossomed into a clear professional calling.
With over 8 years of experience in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, Justin K. Maio, MS, PA-C, has developed extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of skin, hair, and nail conditions. He regularly treats common dermatologic concerns such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and various forms of hair loss, including alopecia areata and androgenic alopecia. In addition to medical dermatology, Justin is skilled in performing cosmetic procedures such as neuromodulator injections and laser treatments, helping patients achieve healthier, clearer, and more confident skin. His comprehensive approach ensures personalized care tailored to each patient’s unique skin needs and goals.
Outside the clinic, Justin is a true kamaʻāina at heart. You’ll often find him in the ocean catching waves or cheering from the sidelines with his wife as their son competes in football or baseball. He is thrilled to be part of the Hawaii Premier Dermatology team and looks forward to partnering with you on your journey to healthy, radiant skin.
